The Global Civil War

Director: Paweł Wodziński

Before our very eyes the politicisation of violence is happening again.

The human kind is in a state of global civil war and it is hard to seek refuge from it. A new constellation of political movements bringing back the spectre of fascism has materialized. These movements have a lot in common, including manifestations of xenophobia and islamophobia, as well as rejection of globalization, with a regressive and nationalistic protectionism chosen instead. Meanwhile, the intellectual elites of the western world are persistent in meeting the manifestations of the far right idea with nonchalance, treating them with disregard or objectifying them. Before our very eyes the politicisation of violence is happening again. Only this time it is happening within the framework of democracy, with no authoritarian ambitions like those in the 1930s. The answer we are getting to the barbarism of neoliberal world is an equally barbaric contra-project of national conservatism, deceitfully used by populists. “The Global Civil War” is an attempt to work performatively with various texts of the last two decades, written by politicians, analysts, assassins, economists and publicists, and to create a merger of violent social and economic fantasies out of them.
