Emancipatory humanities project: colonisations and decolonisations

Seminar by Michał Kuziak

The language of postcolonial criticism distinctly came into being in the Polish journalistic debate (while penetrating the rhetoric of political disputes), art and science at the beginning of the noughties. That is when it encountered a forceful resistance, particularly in connection with the attempts to discuss postcolonial Poland. What does it offer us today? How does it improve our understanding of our own locality by situating it in the context of global phenomena, and by returning to colonisations and decolonisations lived through within it? These are several introductory questions which will be asked during the seminar.
