Piotr Środa

Born in ‘66, trained as an electronic engineer. Left wing activist from Cracow. Since 1996 he has been active in social work in Parents’ Councils and grass-roots initiatives in Cracow. Co-founder of the Committee for the Defence of Democracy (KOD) in Małopolska (2015). In 2016–2017, member of the KOD Małopolska board serving as their secretary. Since 2015 he has been actively involved in defence of human rights and environmental activities. Co-organiser or organiser of numerous demonstrations, including in defence of human rights, women’s protests, pro-environment and pro-ecology demonstrations, as well as demonstrations in defence of the rule of law in Poland (court protests in 2017–2018). Since autumn 2018 affiliated with the Institute of Democratic Thought, later with the political party Wiosna. In parliamentary elections in 2019, he ran for an MP with SLD (Democratic Left Alliance). Co-founder of a grass-roots local movement “Emergency Action for Cracow”, active member of the Food Not Bombs collective, collaborator in the office of MP Maciej Gdula.
