Karol Nepelski

Composer. He majored in composition at the Academy of Music in Cracow and received the doctoral title in the class of Prof. dr hc. Krzysztof Penderecki; he currently works at the Academy as an assistant professor; in 2005 he studied at Staatliche Musikhochschule Stuttgart. In 2008, Karol received the 1st prize in the Marek Stachowski National Composition Competition for the piece “Feu Eternel” for the symphonic orchestra, and he was the resident composer in Bourges (France). In 2009 he worked in the NOTAM studio in Oslo. He gave lectures in Rotterdam, Kiev and Budapest, among others. He was the resident composer of the LPO Young Composers programme for 2017/2018 at the London Philharmony Orchestra. Author of instrumental, theatre and film music, he also creates electroacoustic music, music installations and preformances. His works were performed by the Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, musikFabrik, Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, Orchestra of the Beethoven Academy, Silesian Quartet, and Ricciotti Ensemble from Amsterdam. Karol Nepelski’s compositions were presented at the Polish Aesthetic Conference Matter of Art (2008) and Aesthetics of Performative Arts (2012), as well as the International Congress of Aesthetics Aesthetics in Action (2013).
