Ania Nowak

She works in the broadly understood area of choreography, where she speculates on what body and language are capable of nowadays. Formats of her work include performance, video performance, performative exhibition and text. Nowak is interested in the material dimension of body and its non-material aspects – affects, feelings, intuition – as a point of departure for developing embodied practices of care and community. Her reflection concerns the experiences of sexuality, disease and grief, as well as the ethics of pleasure in the times of climate and political crisis. Nowak’s works were presented, among others, in HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Sophiensaele and Akademie der Künste in Berlin; Nowy Theatre, Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art in Warsaw, BWA Wrocław; Art Institute HGK FHNW Basel; CAC Vilnius and ICK Amsterdam. She lives and works in Berlin. In 2021, she will be a resident of Ankara Queer Art in Turkey and The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seul.
