POLISH EIDS in conversation: How to Have an AIDS Memorial in an Epidemic?

Research platform POLISH EIDS in its first public program engages in conversation with writer and organizer Theodore (ted) Kerr and students from his class at The New School: Life During Memorialization: History and the Ongoing Epidemic of HIV/AIDS in the USA. This session is concerned with identifying strategies and forms behind public and community-based monuments evoking the AIDS crisis and those devoted to the commemoration of people with HIV over time. We are going to navigate North American and Central and Eastern European cultural contexts while asking questions we may not have the answer for yet. This event is realized in the spirit of mutual learning, as to foster reflection and research on HIV and AIDS in Poland by opening up to the voices and experiences of others globally.
