Research platform POLISH EIDS is thrilled to present an online presentation of “The Seropositive Files: Visualizing HIV in Mexico” exhibition that opened this year at the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo. Curators Sol Henaro and Luis Matus have conducted a mapping at the MUAC’s Arkheia Documentation Centre with the goal of creating a public repository of visual representations regarding HIV in their country. As Henaro aptly reminds us, “we tend to forget that the virus is not gone yet”. Therefore, the goal behind creating this collection is not only to preserve the legacies of cultural activism around HIV, but to reignite the interest of the public, especially the young one that was growing up knowing AIDS is not anymore the death sentence.

For POLISH EIDS platform it is important to recognize and to learn from the circulation of ideas, methodologies and reflections on HIV and AIDS outside of the English-speaking world. Remarkable project by Henaro and Matus is a source of inspiration for us as we continue to map and analyze visual material regarding HIV in Poland.

Presentation by curators and researchers Sol Henaro and Luis Matus will be followed by a conversation moderated by Szymon Adamczak and joined by Zofia nierodzińska.

The meeting will be held in Polish and Spanish, without English interpreting.

We encourage everyone to join the discussion and send us questions on the chat below the stream. The moderator will ask them on your behalf.

Streaming to Facebook.
