Harm Reduction: Living Politics

Screening of “Hope is Not an Obligation” (dir. Aga Szuścik) and discussion with harm reduction activists

Admission free

What is the state of harm reduction in Poland? How do activists strategise their work and provide harm reduction services in a context that criminalises drugs? How have harm reduction interventions changed over time? How does the domination of the abstinence-based model impact harm reduction in Poland? What is the place of harm reduction in narcopolitics? We invite you to an open discussion with the participation of activists providing harm reduction services, supporting people who use drugs and advocating for shifts in drug policies. The discussion will start with a screening of the movie Hope is Not an Obligation (dir. Aga Szuścik) featuring the Krakow DROP-IN Krakowska 19 run by MONAR.

Discussion participants: Maciej Kępka (Stowarzyszenie Program STACJA), Aleksandra Stańczak (Fundacja Polityki Społecznej PREKURSOR), Piotr Tubelewicz (Społeczna Inicjatywa Narkopolityki), Michał Muskała (Społeczny Komitet ds. AIDS), Marcin Chałupka (Narkopolityka), Marianna Masia Iwulska (Liberation Association).

Moderation: Justyna Struzik, Agata Dziuban (EUROPACH, Instytut Socjologii Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego).
